What are they?
- The amphetamines are a group of artificial stimulants (uppers, bennies, pep pills), methamphetamine (speed, crystal, meth, crank) and smoking meth (ice, tina, jib, glass)
- They increase alertness, energy, and a sense of wellbeing.
- These drugs come in tablets and capsules that can be taken orally. They can also appear as yellow, brown, pink, or off-white crystals, chunks and powders, which may be sniffed or injected. Smokable meth looks like shaved glass slivers or clear rock salt.
Effects...
- Meth stimulates the central nervous system.
- User has no interest in food or sleep. Rapid and unhealthy weight loss.
- Problems with thinking, memory, concentration and movement.
- Can cause lasting brain damage.
- Sores on the skin.
- Out of control rage "tweaking"
Addiction:
- Users develop tolerance, dependence, and cravings.
- Users will do anything to get more.
- When someone thinks a lot about drinking or using drugs or often thinks about how they feel when using they may be addicted.
- Withdrawal symptoms:
- Loss of motivation
- Low energy
- Paranoia
- Anxiety
- Hallucinations
- Extreme craving for the drug
